Access to transit is a great equalizer in our city: It allows everyone to access our city. Eric has fought to expand bus service and accessibility, successfully fighting for the MTA to install elevators at our local 4 train station and preserving express bus service. Unfortunately, our public transit system is failing to meet the needs of all New Yorkers due to bad service and failures to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. If we are truly going to diminish the dependence on cars, we must do more to improve our public transit:

• Expanding access to buses in our community and improving service. This will include numerous changes including: addressing bunching, expanding use of all door boarding, and utilizing technology that allows buses to control bus signals. Buses are a key piece of our community’s mobility.
• Improving transit accessibility by increasing the number of subway stations with elevator access and ensuring all buses are truly accessible. In 2019, only about a quarter of subway stations were wheelchair accessible. That is unacceptable and a complete violation of ADA. 
• Pushing to change fares on Metro North Trains to match MTA subway/bus fares.
• Fighting to secure city control of the MTA.
